The Little Foxes

Has it happened to you? You're having such a great day, a great week, and then it starts...the "little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, while our vineyards are in blossom." (Song of Songs 2:15 [NASB]) A loved one is straying from the faith; a family member is not happy with your recent decision; you spend your entire monthly grocery budget with two weeks left to go; your printer stopped working; you overslept and are late for church; you found the largest spider you've ever seen in your entire life on your kitchen counter; the wasps choose your back porch for their gathering place; one of your prized plants succumbs to the horrific summer heat; your neighbors keep letting their dogs use your yard for, well, you know what! And so it goes. One little thing, another little thing, then another... You're about ready to give in to the "one thing after another" and wallow in the self-pity and negativity until you realize what is really going on: there is an enemy trying to get a foot-hold in your life, coming in by way of the "back door" and trying to steal your joy!

That's been my past few days and I thank God He let me realize what was going on! For the past nine days, I have been committing to memory Galatians 5:22-23, the nine-fold fruit of the Spirit, so no wonder I would find myself under attack. But, I will have none of it! No sir-reee!!
